Today I went through the box of "future gifts" I have in a closet.  I'm guessing most of you have a similar collection.  Most of the items are things that I've picked up because they're cool and I'm sure they'll make a great gift sometime soon.  What I realized was that a lot of them would make great auction donations.  They're new, they're cool, and they're right at hand.  I'm going to enter them into the easy to use on-line form tonight.

I've also thought about picking up a few gift certificates for local stores I love to support.  Gift certificates almost always are sold for more than face value at the auction.

This won't be the last time I write to you about the auction.  I spend a lot of time thinking about and working within the financial constraints our school faces.  We are healthy financially because we are careful stewards of our money — and because we have been so generously supported by our families.  Progressive education does not come cheaply.  We cannot return year after year to the same resources because our curriculum changes every year.  We need our families' support to make our instruction as rich and full as it can be.

We depend on you.  We value everything you give to the school — your volunteer time, your expertise and your financial gifts.  Please join me in supporting the school at the auction and please encourage other Prairie Creek families to become actively involved.  I am very proud of the central role Heron families play in the life of the Prairie Creek community.
