Makey Make This

Today the Herons used the Makey Makey to further their understanding of circuits and conductors.  The Makey Makey is an ingenious little device that lets you create a circuit board that controls certain key board controls (which can then control computer programs).  The best part is that you are part of the circuit along with anything else you can find that conducts electricity – fruit, cello strings, play dough…

By closing the circuit, the Herons controlled the computer.  But it never goes exactly as planned.  A large part of the purpose is learning how to trouble shoot, identify variables, and extend concepts.  Students began with very simple ideas and then began to try to execute more complex ones.
