The Herons said goodbye today to Alex Pepel who has been learning with us since January. She was taking a class on progressive education and was working and observing in our classroom for the semester. Her warm humor quickly endeared her to the Herons and we will miss her a lot.
I always feel so fortunate when I am able to work with a college student. Part of our work as teachers at Prairie Creek is to reach out to potential educators. I always learn so much when I welcome a visitor to our classroom. Alex's insightful questions and observations reminded me of things I knew but had forgotten and helped me reflect on my own practice, seeing it with fresh eyes.
We wish Alex the best of luck.
