Starting Points

IMG_4680Today we planted a lot of seeds – surveys, accountable talk, truchet tiles, Morning Girl (our read aloud book.)  We started talking about what it meant to be a Heron and what might be the guidelines we wanted to live by.  We talked about leadership and the special work of guiding younger children.  We began hand work after lunch and talked about the different kind of writing craft we might find as we read.  We discussed math fluency and proved that we were fluent multipliers of zero and one. And we laughed…a lot.

In the days ahead, we'll dig deeper — but today is a sampler, tantalizing bits and pieces that we'll start to put together later.  I can't wait.
