Shakespeare Wrap Up

IMG_7873  Thank you for your support of our Shakespearean Dinner Theater.  It was wonderful to see the Herons shine.  I was very excited to see how well the students worked together to solve problems and make each other successful.

I was thrilled to see so many Herons/Elms alumni at the event, too.  At one point, we needed extra hands at the foreign exchange table and, without missing a beat, they jumped right in, even setting up a shift system.  Their support was noticed by the current Herons and was a real gift.  After all, your parents have to like what you do, but seventh graders…when they like what you do, it really means a lot!

The Herons were very proud of their work, too.  We worked on a reflection on Friday and will finish up when school resumes.  I had a table full of memorabilia they could choose to put in their blue books.  In very short order, the table was bare — everybody wanted to remember everything.

Thank you to the parents that sent along some of their photos.

Thanks to Northfield's Fashion Fair and Archer House for lending us costumes and tables respectively.  Also thanks to Great Harvest in Burnsville for donating bread to the Elizabethan Café.PC150019 PC150020 PC160034 PC160038 PC160041 PC160042 PC160045 PC160046

    Michelle and Elizabeth,
Thanks to the two of you for leading our kids deeper into the world of Shakespeare and Elizabethan England. I was so impressed by the knowledge, passion, and interest of the students, and their performance of Hamlet was remarkable.
If any students or parents want to continue their exploration of Shakespeare, the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis is staging two of his plays in the coming months:
    Romeo and Juliet – January 9 – 31
    Macbeth – January 30 – April 3.
    Thanks again,
    Patrick

It was great! I have to say that the “rat search” was a highlight for us! Meaghan was thrilled to be searching for rats in Shakespeare’s London!
    Thanks again.
