Now is the Month of Maying

Today we celebrated May Day at Prairie Creek. It is a cherished tradition at our school. We began with a song (in Spanish; we combined May Day with Cinco de Mayo this year), then we went off on our parade through Castle Rock. Upon our return, the fifth graders did the May pole dance, accompanied by the fourth graders on drum and recorder. The high winds made the May pole dance a challenge, but our fifth graders did a beautiful job. The winds forced the rest of the music to be moved into the school, and the potluck and hotdog lunch as well. But the community dancing went on outside as planned, ably led by Mary Jo Cristafaro-Hark. It was great fun to see so many alums and families in attendance. A huge thanks to all the Castle Rock businesses and community members who served us hotdogs and ice cream today! -CTO
